Jun. 16, 2020 – The 127th Canton Fair was opened online on June 15th, 2020. The ongoing Carton Fair has moved to the cloud for the first time. The Canton Fair was operated uninterrupted for 63 years, even with the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, it still arrived as scheduled, demonstrating China's firm determination to open up.
The Canton Fair is seen as an importatnt barometer of the China's foreign trade. This session, it will last for 10 days, and 24 hours a day. On the website of the fair, there are 16 major product categories, with 50 exhibition areas. Over 1,800,000 products from 25,000 companies will be displayed comprehensively online through text, photos, 3D, video, live streaming, etc.
"We are not simply copying the offline fair model. Instead, we have come up with a brand new idea and business process, using the internet, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence," said Xu Bing, the deputy secretary general of the China Import and Export Fair.
Throughout the 127th Canton Fair, new products will be released at dozens of news conferences. They range from home appliances to construction materials; machinery to textiles; from heavy to light industries. With the technologies used to make the products being improved, the needs of customers will be further met.
"Due to the coronavirus outbreak and the downward trend of global economy, trade and commerce in both China and the world is facing unprecedented challenges," Xu said. "We are helping Chinese companies to get orders and maintain their markets, and overseas buyers to maintain the stability of the industrial and supply chains."
